DIGITAL ART

Digital Art combines traditional art techniques with advanced digital equipment and software to take your artistic abilities to the next level.

2D ANIMATION

2D Animation is created by drawing from traditional animation techniques combined with advanced software that brings your art to life.

3D DEVELOPMENT

3D Development is a diverse area that includes many options including modelling, game assets, 3D printing and architecture.

CGI/MOTION GRAPHICS

The area of CGI/Motion Graphics is a field that continues to evolve. Whether it is special effects for a film or a flashy animated intro, this area has many creative options.

WEB DESIGN

As our reliance on the internet continues to grow, so does the need for skilled web designers & developers. Using the latest coding languages, students learn to develop modern websites that comply with today’s web standards.

GAME/APP DEVELOPMENT

Wildly popular, the area of game/app development allows students the opportunity to create fully functional games & apps by using current software and code.

COURSE OVERVIEW

COURSE OFFERINGS

DMD20S

INTRODUCTORY

In this intro course, students will be introduced to the six main areas of the DMD program.

These areas include:

• Digital Art
• 2D Animation
• 3D Development
• CGI/Motion Graphics
• Web Design
• Game/App Development

DMD30S

INTERMEDIATE

In this intermediate course, students will draw from their previous experience to specialize in three areas of their choosing.

The expectation is for students at this level to refine their skills in the areas that they feel best suit their interests.

An introduction to the portfolio creation process is introduced within this program.

DMD40S

ADVANCED

In this final advanced course, students will take their abilities and use it to develop two major final projects.

The expectation is that the student will demonstrate a high level of mastery in their chosen skill areas.

A focus on producing a final portfolio for employment and/or post-secondary is a major component of this program.

Do I need to have any prior skills to take this course?

While it is encouraged that you have some computer experience and creativity beforehand, it is not a requirement. Our DMD20S course starts with the absolute basics and is suitable for all skill levels.

What will I learn?

Our program covers a wide range of digital multimedia areas. This includes digital art, 2D animation, 3D development, CGI/Motion Graphics, Web Design and Game/App Development.

What equipment is available?

Our classroom is equipped with cutting edge equipment including new MacBook Pro and Alienware computers, digital drawing tablets, 3D printers, motion tracking suits, and VR headsets.

Do I need to take DMD20S in order to take it at higher levels?

While it may be possible to take the DMD30S program without taking the DMD20S beforehand; it is STRONGLY discouraged to take the DMD40S without any prerequisite classes.

How do I get graded?

This course is primarily participation based. Therefore, if you put in an effort and demonstrate the required skills, you will succeed. Our marking is based on a detailed rubric that is used to grade your weekly assignments.

Where can I go with this after high school?

The digital media industry is the fastest growing technology sector and new career opportunities are continually opening up as this industry evolves. Many local, national and international post-secondary options are available to those who wish to advance their studies.
